Master Harold ... and the Boys

By Athol Fugard

A sometimes comic, frequently searing, and ultimately hopeful coming of age story set during
a rain-soaked afternoon in South Africa. Fugard's masterpiece is a powerful examination of the impact
of apartheid on the close friendship between young Hally, a teenager from
a fractured family trying to find his place, and two black servants.

Good Theater presents

By Oscar Wilde

Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest is a most delicious, if not the most delicious, comedy of manners,
morals and misrepresentation of the manor-born. Wilde's piercingly sharp dialogue still delights,
some 110 years after it was written. Algernon and Jack both fall in love under assumed names.
When the women announce they could only love a man named Ernest, Algy and Jack must work quickly to maintain their lady loves.

Fun, frothy and frivolous, The Importance of Being Earnest will keep audiences laughing until spring arrives.

TRAINING RULES

A Film and a Discussion on
HOMOPHOBIA IN WOMEN’S SPORTS

113 Bailey Hall, Gorham Campus

The University of Southern Maine’s Women and Gender Studies Program, the USM Athletics Department,
and the Center for Sexualities and Gender Diversity present a free screening and discussion of the documentary,
Training Rules.

Training Rules  is a captivating documentary that examines the three training rules often imposed in women’s sports:
no drinking, no drugs, no lesbians. The film unveils a litany of betrayal, abuse, humiliation, and bigotry in women’s sports.

Following the screening of the film, USM Women and Gender Studies Professor Jim Messerschmidt and
Program Coordinator of the Center for Sexualities and Gender Diversity, Sarah Holmes, will facilitate a discussion.
