The Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence:
G/L/B/T Project
The Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence is dedicated to developing and implementing training programs to prevent bias, harassment and violence. Our aim is to assist schools, colleges, law enforcement, medical professionals and communities in creating safe environments in which all people are treated with dignity and respect.
The GLBT Project, being conducted across Maine this summer, is investigating discrimation targeting members of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender communities. FMI

Equality Maine
Formerly Maine Lesbian Gay Political Alliance, Equality Maine is our state’s oldest and largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender political advocacy organization. Equality Maine has over 1,000 members from every region of Maine - all committed to making our vision of equality a reality. Equality Maine acts in support of people of diverse orientation and gender identity through education, legislation and collaboration in Maine. We envision a Maine in which all people of diverse orientation and gender identity live in a state where they are safe with their families, welcomed in their community and secure in the workplace, because they have full equality. Frannie Peabody Center
The Center honors the memory of Frances W. Peabody whose great energy, vision and pride of purpose were instrumental in awakening the public to the suffering and indifference experienced by those living with HIV/AIDS in Maine. For two decades, Frannie Peabody's commitment brought national recognition to Peabody House, The AIDS Project, and the founding spirit she brought to both. FMI.

Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network
Strives to assure that each member of every K-12 school community is valued and respected, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. FMI

The Maine Gay Men’s Chorus
A chorus with membership of over 150 men. MGMC is based in Portland, Maine and rehearse weekly. They perform 3 concerts each year, one during the Holiday season, a cabaret on Valentine's Day, and Pride in June. FMI

Maine Speakout Project
The mission of the Maine Speakout Project is to promote respect and understanding among persons of differing sexual orientations. To accomplish this mission, MSOP trains and empowers volunteers to share their personal experiences and perspectives with individuals and community groups. FMI.


Married And Gay Men’s Association
MAGMA is a discussion group for married men who are bisexual, gay, or questioning. This discussion group is run by gay/bisexual married men who are at varying stages of this struggle. Meetings are held in Portland. Email: magmamaine@aol.com FMI

Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays
PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. FMI

 
 
PRYSM: Proud Rainbow Youth of Southern Maine
provides a safe and supportive space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, questioning, and allied young people.  Services include social support, HIV/STD/STI prevention and education, community education/outreach, and youth leadership development.  The program is also working to develop case management services.

Drop-ins are from 6-9pm every Tuesday and the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month. Located at 43 Baxter Boulevard, 2nd floor of the Medical Arts Building next to Hannaford's Supermarket by Back Cove in Portland.

Outright L/A is an organization providing support and education services to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and questioning youth age 22 and under, as well as a place for youth to meet and make new friends in a safe, accepting environment.

Rainbow Business and Professional Association
Works for you, Works for ME!
Maine's premier LGBT business network group. RBPA is a not-for-profit organization promoting and supporting gay and gay friendly businesses, non-profits and professionals. Join our monthly dinner meetings to exchange ideas, learn from local business leaders, to network and socialize. Our web site offers a comprehensive member directory to promote your business or to find contacts or services. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month from September through May. Thrive Maine
Their mission is to provide community outreach within the Greater Portland, Maine area that is effective in reducing the risk of HIV and other STD infections among men who have sex with men (MSM). FMI.


YANKEE BOYZ
Maine’s first and only FTM Transgender support group.A social/support group for those born female, or intersex, and which female and/or "woman" as an identity does not fit. Female-to-Male Transexuals, Transgenderists, Crossdressers, TG Butches, Stonebutches and otherwise identified female "guys" and their SOFFA’S (Significant Other, Friend, Family, Allies) are welcome. All sexual orientations are welcome.Meets monthly Sept-June. 1pm - 3pm, Unitarian Universalist Church. Auburn.
